20. Brett Cumberland

The Braves selected Cumberland in the second supplemental round in 2016. He began his pro career poorly but has since made some adjustments which led to more improved year in 2017. As a switch hitter, his best tool is his bat as he should hit for both contact and power. The Braves have had somewhat of a philosophy change when developing hitters. They are introducing and teaching launch angle, which should benefit Cumberland due to his approach. His biggest issue will be his defense which might ultimately leave him to a bench role. When he plays defense, although sparingly, he is used as a first basemen or catcher. He does possess average to below average speed. Perhaps with the his moderate speed he could also learn to play some left field in 2018. If possible, he would add way more versatility then previously expected. Depending on performance, the Braves might push Cumberland to the majors this season due to him having one of the more developed bats in the organization.
