Georgia Tech’s Joey Bart drafted second overall

ACC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 2018 All-American, and Georgia Tech phenom catcher, Joey Bart, was selected second overall in the MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants. Known for his impeccable game calling skills, arm, and defensive catching ability, Bart has also improved behind the plate. After hovering at or around .300 in his freshman and sophomore years, Bart has broken through in 2018, hitting a whopping .359 with sixteen home runs.

Bart’s stock has risen in recent months, as he went from a potential mid-first round pick to potentially a first overall pick. After Detroit took Casey Mize at 1/1, the move was a no-brainer for the Giants, who took Joey Bart with their first-round selection.
